"she hacked you" is a community for scientists, and artists to collaborate; provides a weekly stream
Beskrivning
Every week, when I'm not crippled by depression, I teach computer science classes. Not like a fly-by-night code camp, and while I'm a hacker (or prefer brujita), I can't teach you to hack; I'm just giving you realistic expectations.
Lately, I have been focusing on being able to stream hardware hacking (yes, getting root access on devices you wouldn't even imagine had Linux) and software engineering. Learning how the two interface.
And I do it all on free software, Debian, Gnome-Terminal, and (neo)vim. It is simple but incredibly powerful and accessible. Anyone could buy a 25-50 USD computer and follow along easily.
Too much computer science, we all know, is aimed at white men, and my goal is to provide access to other marginalized communities that are not currently catered to.
I teach computer science, not programming. Most colleges and universities will sell a trade programming education as a computer science degree, and the lack of the ability is very apparent if they ever have the courage to have their code peer-reviewed.
Treating programming as a trade skill, not a science, has led to planes falling from the skies.
What I will do is get you ready for peer review, get ready for contributing to open-source projects, learn the rules, and learn how to comply so your contributions are accepted. Or help you build the skills to build and manage your own open-source projects, even ones large enough to require foundations.
Oh, I also make music and art that people seem to like. I started writing music explicitly for the stream to have music that is not copyright protected, and it developed into a project that is growing rapidly https://shehackedyou.bandcamp.com
I also started long-form writing, in the form of grey-literature research papers that I release at https://shehackedyou.com
And you can find me posting regularly on Mastodon at https://mastodon.social/@ekis
We also have a lemmy, a growing community of scientists, programmers, hackers, engineers, artists, who are explicitly leftist and do not want to simply be bystanders in the universe; or on world facing total cascading ecological collapse: (federated link aggregator to replace reddit) at https://lemmy.world/c/shehackedyou
